With this week being National Farmers Market week, it seemed only fitting to write about our local farmers markets throughout the city - and boy, do we have a lot to choose from! National Farmers Market week highlights the vital role farmers markets play in our nation’s food system. You can read more about the initiative from the Farmers Market Coalition here.
Get shopping locally - there’s still lots of items in season to enjoy! Here is a round-up of some of our favourite Farmers Markets locally, though there are definitely more throughout Hamilton:
Hamilton Farmer's Market vendors
Hamilton Farmers' Market:The Hamilton Farmers' Market, the year-round indoor market off of York Blvd, is one of the oldest farmers markets within the city. With over 50 vendors to choose from, the Hamilton Farmers Market also plays host to burgeoning food makers within the city.
Ottawa Street Farmers Market: Located just behind the bustling Ottawa Street North in a large parking lot, you will find the weekly Ottawa Street Farmers Market. This market has a longer season than others, running every Saturday from April to December, so depending on the season - the offerings will vary!
Ancaster Farmers' Market: Find the Ancaster Farmers' Market open every Wednesday from 3pm to 7pm, in the heart of Ancaster Village at the new Ancaster Memorial Arts Centre. Weekly vendors are posted to their social media each week. Local musician performances take place each week too!
